Authentic Thinking: Basis for a Life of Passion A Talk by and Dialogue with Yasuhiko Genku Kimura
Wed., November 8, 2006 Sponsored by the Explorers Foundation
Passion is the arousal of spirit in the realization of your singular kosmic destiny?of your own unique evolutionary possibility. Passion arises with the authentic recognition of your self as a creative vision. Authentic vision is not something you have but that which you are, which summons you to be and act from the future that is the Eternal ceaselessly unfolding from the depth of your being.
When you realize your creative vision and rouse your spiritual passion, you will have an unshakable standard for integrity. When you live your life in integrity with your vision and passion, you achieve authentic freedom and responsibility, because now your life becomes truly your own making. And for you who have a vision and live a life of integrity, the fulfillment of your passion is your life?s mission.
The essential key to realizing your vision and living a life of passion is Authentic Thinking. The ancient Japanese intuitively captured the possibility inherent in authentic thinking in the concept of kamikaeru. Kamikaeru means to ?return? (kaeru) to the ?Invisible? (kami) ground of being wherein the ?Light? (kami) of intelligence ?dialectically? (kami) engenders an evolutionary flow of thought that creatively manifests in the visible, as the visible.
Authentic thinking is a spiritual activity in which you rhythmically engage in the evolutionary cycle of returning to the invisible ground of your being and then to the visible outer world infused with vision, passion, and creativity. Authentic thinking is the virtuous circle of thought?s evolutional returning to and from the inner source of thinking and knowing?kami. In authentic thinking you are the sole author and authority of your thought because kami is always within you.
The questions arise: How to cultivate Authentic Thinking? How to realize your vision and passion? How to live a life of vision, passion, and integrity? In this thought-provoking and spirit-enlivening presentation, Yasuhiko Genku Kimura, noted integral philosopher and former Zen Buddhist priest, will address these questions and more and shed light on some of the most vexing problems facing us today.

Authentic Leadership for the Age of Global Competition Lecture by Yasuhiko Genku Kimura
The advent of the age of globalization shifts the value and stakes of what it means to be an authentic leader from being the “number one” to being the “only one.” It does not mean so much to be better than your competitors but to be uniquely alone in your expertise so that you have essentially no competitors.
Authentic leadership requires that (1) you know who you are as a creative vision in the world; (2) you know how to effectively manifest your vision and strategies; (3) you know how to think authentically so that not only can you consistently generate innovative ideas but you also render your innovative ideas obsolete by the time others start imitating your ideas.
In this thought-provoking presentation, Yasuhiko Genku Kimura, a noted expert in authentic thinking and leadership will share his latest ground-breaking thought with the audience ready to take steps necessary to attain authentic leadership in the age of globalization.

Transformative Visions of Buddhism: The Lotus Sutra and Shobogenzo We invite you to participate in a four-week series of lectures on Buddhism by Yasuhiko Genku Kimura focusing on personal transformation and awakening. At its core, Buddhism is the study of mind -- its nature, process and functioning. Over 15 centuries before the New Thought movement was born in the West, Buddhist philosophers were engaged in a profound and original study of mind, both human and cosmic.
Today, the Buddhist study of mind is still unsurpassed in its depth and scope. Yet precisely because of its tremendous depth, and the ancient and technical languages used, only a few understand its real significance. In this four-session lecture series, Mr. Kimura will open new vistas of inner-knowing as students come to understand Buddhism in the context of the 21st-century science and culture.
Buddhism in essence presents itself in three aspects: Primitive Buddhism; Theravada Buddhism; and Mahayana Buddhism. This class focuses on Mahayana Buddhism, studying its philosophy by reading selected passages of The Lotus Sutra, arguably the most comprehensive of all Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, and of Shobogenzo, known as one of the most profound and original expressions of spiritual enlightenment ever written. Yasuhiko Genku Kimura presents classes designed not only to inform but also, more importantly, to transform. Students will gain new transformative insights for their own spiritual development as well as a knowledge of Mahayana Buddhism.
Required Reading: The Lotus Sutra (translation by Burton Watson) Other reading material will be provided in class

Knowing God, Knowing the Self: Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism and Christianity
All authentic spiritual paths converge in the authentic experience of knowing God and knowing the Self, just as myriad rivers flow into the same ocean or as various passages lead to the same mountain peak. In this thought-provoking and mind-expanding philosophical discourse, Yasuhiko Genku Kimura, a noted integral spiritual philosopher, author, and activist, will show what it means to know God and to realize the Self through the esoteric teachings of Buddha, Lao Tzu, Shankara and Christ in conjunction with Western philosophic and scientific thought.
Though self-contained, this program also serves as an introduction to Mr. Kimura’s in-depth programs on Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, and Hinduism scheduled at the Agape Institute over the rest of the year.
